Join us for an engaging discussion on ethical dilemmas faced by sign language interpreters across a variety of settings. Using the RID/NAD Code of Professional Conduct (CPC) as our guide, participants will collaborate to analyze scenarios and develop thoughtful, ethical responses.
The January session will begin with a focused discussion on Tenet #7 of the CPC, followed by open dialogue on real-world topics brought forward by participants.

February Ethical Discussion Group

Description:
This session continues our ethical exploration for sign language interpreters, guided by the RID/NAD Code of Professional Conduct (CPC). Participants will work collaboratively to examine ethical challenges and share perspectives grounded in professional standards.
The February group will begin with a focus on Tenet #1 of the CPC, followed by participant-led discussions based on real experiences and questions.

The training will navigate meeting language and cultural needs of families while providing language access that meets compliance with Title VI. Participants will also learn the roles and ethics of professionally trained interpreters, guidelines and tips on how to work with an interpreter for clear communication, and gain insight as to why family members and friends are inappropriate choices for an interpreter.
